I have only been able to watch a fraction of the Inquiry on catch-up, but for anyone who has not yet given evidence, you may find this handy:
- I don’t remember.
- I don’t remember reading the written account. I also don’t remember forwarding, replying, printing or downloading it.
- Sadly there is no written evidence and I can’t remember who I spoke to, however, I remember the conversation clearly and it proves I am innocent.
- I am not sure why I was copied into the email.
- This was not my job. This was someone else’s job. I’m not clear who though. In fact, I’m not clear what my job was, but I got paid loads of money for it.
- When I saw this I was concerned to get to the bottom of it to ensure we did what was right for the sub-postmasters. I immediately bought it to the attention of someone I don’t remember and assumed it was going to be dealt with.
- I never checked that the problem was dealt with because the person I don’t remember was an excellent person and it was their job.
- The person I don’t remember, told me we had been lying to MPs, shareholders, the press and JFSP and well as failing to disclose exculpatory evidence to defense teams. I do clearly remember them telling me but it was years after everyone else must have known, so therefore I did nothing about it.
- The people below me told me the system was working as expected.
- The people above me told me the system was working as expected.
- When I said in the email to let the theiving subbies rot in jail, what I actually meant was we should do a full investigation and make sure justice is done, because I was always fighting for them.
- I deeply regret that I made the mistake of thinking of my paycheck at the expense of innocent people the wrong side of a huge power imbalance.
Should cover most eventualities, but if really stuck, just reasurre yourself that people with money and connections never go to prison in the UK.
